Friday evening was the Tri-club's Tri-Formal- a spiffy event that required dressing up, which is always a good time. I was even lucky enough to have a date! (say whaaa?!) The lovely Ellie Bruns asked me to go with here, and of course I gladly accepted.
However, I was lacking in the dressy clothes department- my suit, which I hadn't worn since high school was packed away at my mom's house and chances are it wouldn't have fit anyway. The quest was on for some classy attire and any time clothes shopping and me are involved it's like digging for gold. Why? Because 28x36 jeans are hard to find, dress pants in that size? Yeah right.
TJ-Max- nope. Gordman's- pfft, 'big and tall' there meant fat and sorta tall (38x34...not quite). So I fired a shot in the dark and checked out Men's Warehouse and much to my surprise they had one pair in black. What. the. fuck. A Christmas miracle had come early. One classy white shirt and a nice 2-button jacket later and we were set! (I also borrowed a tie and vest from Naveen because he always keeps it classy). I didn't need to go that far out for the event, but there was a prize for best dressed and cutest couple and I hate losing- good thing Ellie and I color coordinated because we looked killer. (Pictures when I find them!)
Friday rolled around and after shooting some candid photos at the Tri-house we, about 18 of us, drive over to La Scala- a classy Italian restaurant in downtown Lafayette. The food- absolutely fantastic and of course the company and conversation was equally fantastic. After dinner we went back to the Tri-house from some wine, champagne, jazz music, and a few slow dances. All in all a fantastic time and it turns out them Tri-kids are a pretty classy and fun bunch to hangout with (who would have thought?) I'm super happy that Ellie asked me to go with her and can't wait to get together again!
Oh and it was a tie for best dressed- Greg Sheppard also wore a 3-piece suit. He had a pocket square and I had leather gloves, so it was a dead tie. Well fought sir.
